Work & Research Experience

Graduate Research Assistant

The Applied Research Laboratory 2022-Present

- Developed custom slicing software for large format polymer material extrusion machines, reducing build failures by reducing travel moves by 95%.

-Manufactured large gyroid positives for concrete casting through large format additive manufacturing for DARPA’s Reefense program.

-Frequently presented work to a wide variety of audiences

Undergraduate Research Assistant 2021-2022

The University of Texas at Arlington

-Ran a case study on integrating a new Additive Manufacturing process into production of small-scale wind tunnel models

Engineering Intern 2021-2022

Overton Park Oil & Gas

-Designed a custom sim racing rig using a combination of off the shelf components and custom 3D printed parts

Projects

ROVER Gearbox Redesign

-Redesigned a gearbox to eliminate chronic unreliability, by using the design freedom of additive manufacturing, ensuring the new gearbox would meet structural requirement using ANSYS

-Reduced gearbox maintenance time by 75% by considering design for assembly during the redesign

-Leveraged the design freedom of additive manufacturing to reduce the number of parts, while adding increased functionality such as electronics mount

CNC Etch A Sketch

-Modified an Etch A Sketch to automatically draw any image using stepper motors

-Developed a custom framework to pass data from our image analysis tool in MATLAB to the Arduino controlling the stepper motors using a rotary buffer

-Consulted with team members to ensure interoperability throughout design process

-Leveraged an open-source CNC firmware to reduce drawing time from 15-18 hours to 30 minutes
